Metaspec manufactures test specimens used in quality assurance testing by MIL-C-14500. This Military Specification covers electrodeposited copper plating. The production or quality control requirements generally require that the parts being plated be tested for conformance to MIL-C-14550. However, some parts (due to shape or size) can't be tested. In those cases, the specification describes 'separate specimens' that are plated together with the other parts and then tested at the end of the plating process for conformance.
The following is a list of tests in Military Specification MIL-C-14550 that use test specimens. Click on the test method number for more information about specimens required for each test.
MIL-C-14550 §4.3.3.1 Separate Test Specimens MIL-C-14550 §4.5.1 Thickness MIL-C-14550 §4.5.2 Adhesion MIL-C-14550 §4.5.4 Solderability
MIL-C-14550 §4.3.3.2 Hydrogen Embrittlement (see ASTM E8)
Military Specification MIL-C-14550 was superseded by SAE AMS 2418.
