ABOT Metal Catalyst Test Specimens
Metal catalysts used in Aluminum Beaker Oxidation Testing (ABOT). This is a small-scale oxidation test for automatic transmission fluids. The test uses metal catalysts to determine the fluid's tendency to corrode metals commonly found in transmissions, such as lead, copper, and aluminum. Each test specimen (or catalyst) is 1/2" x 3" x 0.015". The specimens are polished with 000 steel wool and are packed individually.
The ABOT test is related to several standard test methods and specifications, including GMW 16974, GM 9986333 (DEXRON HP-ATF), Ford MERCON® and MERCON® V specifications, Chrysler MS-7176E and Chrysler MS-9602.
Customized test specimens are available on request.
