ASTM D1062 Test Specimens

Metal test specimens used in testing adhesives by ASTM D1062 (Cleavage Strength of Metal-to-Metal Adhesive Bonds). Each test specimen is 1-1/4" x 5/8" (32mm x 15mm) with a small rectangular notch in one corner. The specimens have a 3/16" hole drilled at one end. The specimens are bonded in pairs with the test adhesive to make one set of specimens for testing. The specimen material should be chosen based on the end-use material, but ASTM D1062 recommends using C360 brass, 110 copper, 2024 aluminum, 1020 steel, or C544 phosphor bronze. Each test requires at least five specimens for each test adhesive.
