ASTM D2519 Helical Coil Test Specimens

Helical coil test specimens used in ASTM D2519 (Bond Strength of Electrical Insulating Varnishes by the Helical Coil Test). These coils may be made from bare aluminum wire, bare copper wire, film-coated magnet wire, or fiber-insulated magnet wire. The coils are 75 mm (3 inch) long, made from 18 AWG wire, and are wound in a tight helix on a 6 mm (0.25 inch) mandrel. The last loop on each end of the helical coil is bent at a 90° angle to support the specimen in the test apparatus. Each coil is packed individually. Customized test specimens are available on request.
