ASTM D3762 Aluminum Test Specimens
Aluminum test specimens used in ASTM D3762 (Adhesive-Bonded Surface Durability of Aluminum - Wedge Test). This test uses aluminum panels that are bonded with the test adhesive and then cut into bonded test strips (also called assemblies). Metaspec provides these specimens as test panels (6" x 8" x 1/8") or as pre-cut test strips (1" x 8" x 1/8"). The test panels and pre-cut test strips are deburred and solvent cleaned, and have an unpainted as rolled surface finish. These test specimens are available in a range of different aluminum alloys, including 2024-T3 and 7075-T6.
ASTM D3762 also uses a metal wedge made from aluminum or stainless steel. The wedge is 1" x 1" x 1/8", with a tapered end per ASTM D3762 Figure 1.
