ASTM D5894 Test Specimens

Metal test specimens or panels used in ASTM D5894 (Cyclic Salt Fog/UV Exposure of Painted Metal - Alternating Exposures in a Fog/Dry Cabinet and a UV/Condensation Cabinet). This standard practice describes a salt spray test that alternates different exposures to evaluate the corrosion on painted metal surfaces. The test specimens can be made of various metals, such as steel, and the size is not strictly defined. ASTM D5894 suggests a 75 mm x 150 mm (3" x 6") flat specimen, but other specimen sizes can be used as well.
