ASTM D6594 Test Specimens

Test specimens used in ASTM D6594 (Evaluation of Corrosiveness of Diesel Engine Oil). The test determines the corrosion tendency of diesel engine lubricants on metals, especially lead and copper. ASTM D6594 uses four metal specimens: copper, lead, tin, and phosphor bronze. The test specimens are 2.5 cm or 1" square and 0.081 cm (0.032") thick; the lead test specimen is 0.157 cm (0.062") thick. These specimens are avaiable with a 240 grit aluminum oxide pre-polished finish, or with the final polished finish (240 grit aluminum oxide and 400 grit silicon carbide) per ASTM D6594.
