ASTM F1110 Sandwich Corrosion Test Coupons

Aluminum test coupons used in ASTM F1110 sandwich corrosion testing. This test evaluates the corrosiveness of aircraft maintenance chemicals when present between faying surfaces (sandwich) of aluminum alloys commonly used for aircraft structures. The aluminum test coupons (clad or anodized non-clad surface) are sandwiched together with a filter paper in between the metal coupons. The filter paper is saturated with the chemical test sample before the test begins.
The test method calls for three sets of test panels; each set has eight test coupons sandwiched in pairs with the saturated filter paper. Each test specimen is 2" x 4" x 062". The test coupons can be made of 2024-T3 aluminum (clad or bare) or 7075-T6 aluminum (clad or bare).
