NACE TM0208 VIA-Ferrous Test Specimen

Steel test specimens used in NACE TM0208 (Vapor-Inhibiting Ability of Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) Materials for Temporary Protection of Ferrous Metal Surfaces - VIA-Ferrous Test). These steel specimens are also referred to as "plugs." The specimens are made 1018 low carbon steel. Each specimen has a 5/8" (16 mm) OD, 1/2" (13 mm) length, and a 3/8" (10 mm) flat bottom hole drilled in the center at one end. The polished flat face of the test plug (without a hole) is the test surface of the specimen. Customized test plugs for modified versions of the test are also available; contact us to learn more.
